Battery development benefits from Dinolift’s 40 celebration

To mark a 40 year partnership milestone between Dinolift and its Finnish dealer Rotator Oy, Dinolift has made a donation to the University of Turku for the development of future battery technology.

In the late 1970s the market for drainage machines was declining and Dinolift – in those days named Kurpan Konepaja – was starting the production of aerial work platforms called Dino. At the same time Rotator was looking for new business opportunities and the innovative heads of the companies: Mauno Kurppa and Toni Virkkunen found they had same ideas about working at height.

Cooperation between the companies, sharing common goals and working very closely together have been the characteristics of the Dinolift and Rotator partnership from the very beginning. Safe and reliable machines together with professional aftersales service play an important role for both companies and has provided the basis for a successful long-term partnership. Another key factor is the desire to further develop the products based on customer feedback as well as the shared interest in innovation.

To mark these common visions and the successful cooperation Dinolift has made a donation to the University of Turku for the development of future battery technology.

The University of Turku strengthens the research of engineering and this summer it was granted the right to expand its educational range with Master’s Degree programmes in mechanical engineering and material technology. Veli-Matti Savo, commercial director of Dinolift said, “Dinolift Oy wants to support the University of Turku in its role to increase the vitality and attractiveness of the region by donating €4000 to create a new professorship of battery technology. Our strategic goal is to be the world’s best manufacturer of lightweight MEWPs and we will need lots of expertise and new knowledge in developing further our product family.”

Mika Hannula, director of Turku Science Park and Professor of the University of Turku said, ”Dinolift’s donation is a great evidence of the strong willingness of the companies in Turku business region to further strengthen the research and education of engineering.”
