Equipment used at work for lifting, lowering and suspending loads requires careful consideration in its selection, use, maintenance and periodic examination.

Current UK legislation in the form of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) and the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) place stringent responsibilities on owners and users of such equipment.
